Initial Sketches:

Worked closely with the CEO to discuss and understand their wishes to design a cover that reflected their origins; sipping coffee and discussing interests together.

Following an initial screening of the sketches there were a few improvements that were suggested to make the design sleeker and refined to represent the connection to Oxford more directly.

These suggestions included:

  • Opening the window to allow the buildings to speak for themselves.

  • colour blocking to provide clarity and understanding to the client

  • Providing effective and efficient communication to unsure all ideas were explored.

  • bringing the table and cups closer to the viewer

  • making the background stronger and the perspective more in-line with angle of view

This produced the second draft where all feedback was implement allowing the team at OAF understand my creative direction further.

Further refinement to design:

the team at OAF wished to further make the design realistic and pull the viewer into the scene more. the suggested the following:

  • removing the window entirely and allowing the background to sit completely in-front of the table (leaving only a bit of the “wall” to give some sense of place).

  • making the Radcliff camera the most realistic element to not overwhelm the viewer with too much information.

  • changing the mugs to white and making the notes on the paper less formulaic (sketched out or scribbles).

  • adding a pencil or pen beside the paper.

this new design was then produced in less than 2 weeks with only 2 review rounds over this course (removing or adding elements such as coffee mugs, pencils, paper, etc.). This took longer due to balancing studies and other commitments.

Final Design:

Produced in a 2.5-week period from initial concept to delivery.

First implementation in April 2023 and still in use today, with the most recent publication as of April 9, 2026.

Continuing growth and viewer retention from establishing an attention-grabbing cover.
